So you’re in Downtown Tacoma and you’re looking for a place to eat.
You’re not sure which direction to go or where the nearest cheap restaurant is. You hear people talking about the Pacific grill but after seeing the red carpet rolled out, you realize the kids might not be up for something fancy.
Where to eat in Downtown Tacoma…
The awesome side of finding a restaurant in downtown is that you have plenty of choices to choose from. If you want to get a fast meal for the kids, you can go the fast common route and grab them a happy meal at Mcdonalds near the pierce county courthouse or the subway located near Tully’s coffee.
Resturants in Downtown Tacoma…
In the mood for Thai Food? Check out Thai Pepper for some yummy pad thai and spring rolls.
If you’re alone or with someone without children, check out the matador for authentic Mexican food. It is a 21 and up restaurant like it’s neighbor the forum next to the famous Hotel Olympus that was built in 1908 and later turned into Apartment living.
For fancy dining check out the Pacific Grill across the street from the children’s museum.

Snacks while exploring Downtown Tacoma.
Okay, so you’re not really hungry and you just want something light and some snacks to keep in the bag for the kids. I find the latter always important. If you’re near the University of Washington campus, you’ll find rows of local shops varying from bakeries like Hello Cupcake to gift shops.
The University of Washington bookstore has children’s books and ice cream you can purchase and is connected to the Starbucks next door. Downtown Tacoma offers plenty of options when finding a bite to eat while exploring around and enjoying the sun.
Bonus: make sure to check out the glass museum, and waterfront restaurants.
