We recently wrote a Tacoma community college guide and figured we would write a University of Washington Tacoma Guide for those looking to transfer or get accepted into the university.
University of Washington Tacoma Tuition
Depending on if you’re an out of state resident or a resident of Washington, tuition will vary. For residents out of state, tuition can be significantly higher.
If you click on the picture to the right, you’ll see the difference between residents and non-residents when it comes to Tacoma’s University of Washington Undergraduate degree courses.
If you visit here for tuition and rates you’ll see the correct tuition for the 2017-2018 school year, but if you’re reading this article for later school years, click on the link and you’ll find the updated school year version.
Keep in mind that there are fee’s you’ll have to pay + your tuition, however, they are included in the tuition rates.
University of Washington Tacoma application
If you’re looking to apply to UW Tacoma, visit their application page here, most of their applications come with the fee of $60.
First, you’ll need to create an account and then pay the $60 nonrefundable fee. Your application does not have a time limit, so feel free come back to it later if needed.
Transfer student requirements
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application
- Proof of English proficiency
- Two years of world language, defined as two years of the same World Language through level 102 (or two years in high school)

Are you undeclared?
Transfer students can apply directly to a major since they have already done their two-year prerequisites at a two-year community college, or you can apply as a pre-major or undeclared student.
What about UW Tacoma dorms or housing?
Yes, UW Tacoma has on-campus living and you’ll find apartments close to the university as well for the off-campus living.

You won’t have to go far to satisfy your hunger as there are plenty of cafes and restaurants near the campus and right along the UW Bookstore.

Some of the top high schools entering are Mount Tahoma, Stadium High School, Todd Beamer.
Tacoma community college, pierce college and south Puget sound college are some of the top transferring colleges.
Demographics consists of 58% female and 47% male.
